Chasing Magic in the Snæfellsnes Peninsula: Part 2- Kirkjufellsfoss and Kirkjufell Mountain

After getting lost and befriending Icelandic horses, it was time to see Kirkjufellsfoss and Kirkjufell up close.  While trying to get back onto the main road, we turned onto another small dirt road, and saw the most unexpected sign:

My friend Devin remarked, "There's a prison here?! The inmates have a better view than most bed and breakfasts in the world!".  I was surprised to see a prison at all- Iceland is such a safe country, the fact that criminals exist there never even crossed my mind!

Anyway, once we found our way again, it was time to see the waterfalls up close, with a view of Kirkjufell to boot.  What makes Kirkjufell so striking is that it stands alone, and looks almost spiralized- the Guggenheim of mountains!

In the distance, you could see a small village.  The beauty of the landscape was unreal!
